Featured Athlete - Ben Hockman, Football

Character. Senior, Ben Hockman is one heck of a football player. So much so that he was chosen All-League Honorable Mention Wide Receiver last season. He came up with big catch after big catch. But what I admire most about Ben is his character. Simply put, he is a great young man. His coach agrees.

"We talk a lot about being DUDES (Discipline always, Understand what it means to finish on empty, Dominate with great effort and willingness to improve, Embrace competition, Someone you can count on). Ben Hockman is a Dude. In the classroom, at his job, on the practice field, and when the lights come on Friday Night.

He didn't play his freshman year but since then he has developed into one of the best receivers in Southeast Kansas. Big, fast, and physical, he has it all in my opinion. He is a huge part of our running game as well. I tell our wide receivers all the time that they are the difference between a 5 yard gain and a 50 yard gain. Blocking on the perimeter is a dirty job, and he is the best I have ever coached" - Coach Johnson.
