Sunday Sports Rewind 12.9.18

Top of the Morning to you! This is your Sunday Sports Rewind brought to you by the beautiful Cedar Crest Lodge.

On Monday our Junior High Basketball Teams hosted the Uniontown Eagles. The B Team girls played two quarters and won 8-6. The B Team boys also played two quarters and came up just short 8-7. In A Team action the girls won 30-21 and sit at 6-2 for the season. The boys won 44-18 and sit at a perfect 8-0.

Tuesday was the first night of the Linn County Tournament here at Pleasanton. JV Girls lost 19-32, JV Boys lost by the narrow margin of 36-38. In Varsity action the girls had a tough fight on their hand but in the end they took the 38-32 victory. The boys fell to the Trojans 26-62.

Thursday was night two of the tourney and pitted the Blu-Jays against the Prairie View Buffalos. The JV Boys lost 18-46, the JV Girls lost 19-34. The Jays picked up two wins in the Varsity Games! The Boys won 38-35 and the Girls dominated in their 56-20 win.

Friday Night was the last night of the tourney and a lot was on the line. The girls could get their first tournament championship since 1997 and while the chances were stacked against them the boys still had a chance to finish 1st or 2nd in the tournament. It was also a special night since we were playing our rivals, the Jayhawk Linn Jayhawks. The JV Girls got the night started off right by winning 37-31. The JV Boys unfortunately fell 22-39. We had a combined pep band of kids from both schools getting the croud worked into a frenzy before the Varsity tip off. The Lady Jays handled business and won 44-25 to capture the tournament title! The guys also got the win in a close 30-27 game. After the Prairie View boys beat Osawatomie it put the guys in a 3 way tie for the Championship. The tie-breaker was on how many points you allowed during the tournament. Our Blu-Jays allowed 124 while Osawatomie allowed 123. 1 point! Second place isn't anything to hold your heads about though.

Pleasanton also won the first annual "Pack the Pantry" Championship Trophy! Thanks to the Cheer Team for putting on the great event!

Our Varsity Teams are off to a great start of the season with the Boys at 3-1 and the girls have a spotless 4-0 record.
