Looking Back on 2018

Hello Blu-Jay Nation! As Christmas Break quickly approaches and we head into 2019 I think we should look back and remember just how special 2018 has been for us!

Let's start by taking a look back at our Junior High.

Our Volleyball Team finished the season at 16-2 enroute to winning the League Championship.  They also went undefeated in the season ending League Tournament to take home the gold medals.

Our Football team finished 5-1 and also took home the title of League Champions.

Our Basketball Teams have had great seasons thus far. With one game remaining the Lady Jays are 7-3 and could still finish as league runner-up. The boys sit at 9-1 and have a great shot at winning the league title. The boys have outscored their opponents 413 to 190 this year.

Before moving on to the high school, I want to give a shout out to Coach Thomas and The Junior High Cheerleaders! They have really stepped up their game this year and have provided great support for the teams on the field and the court.

We have had an equally successful year for the High School Athletes also.

In Cross Country Rees Chapman (JH), Patience Meik (JH), and Caleb Secrest won medals at the League Meet. Every runner ran their season best time at this meet! Caleb finished at an impressive 25th place at Regionals and Kai Sombatchareun was right behind finishing in 28th.

Our 2018 Volleyball team finished their season with a 15-22 record after a close match with Heritage Christian Academy at Substate. We had three girls receive post season honors with Ella Sabine being selected 1st Team All-League, Shari Dixon and Raygen Spencer were selected Honorable Mention All-League.

How could we forget "Row The Boat"? Our High School Football Team had a remarkable season as they stepped back into 11-Man Football. The Blu-Jays went 8-2 on the season on their way to winning the 2018 TRL League Championship. They got a first round play-off victory over Marion but fell in the next round to eventual State Runner-Up Olpe. After the season we had several boys get recognized for their performances. Kasen McKee was selected All-League First Team at Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. Kasen also received 1st Team All-State at Wide Receiver. Kaden McKee received All-League First Team at Quarterback and Honorable Mention at Linebacker. Kaden was also selected All-State Honorable Mention at Quarterback as well as Honorable Mention on the All-Senior Team by Sports in Kansas. Turner Dent was selected All-League First Team at both O-Line and D-Line. Turner was selected All-State Honorable Mention and Honorable Mention on the All-Senior Team by Sports in Kansas. Blake Pohlmeier was selected First Team All-League at Running Back as well as All-State Honorable Mention. Jeb Ralle was selected First Team All-League at Center and Honorable Mention at Linebacker. Austin Ralle was selected First Team All-League at Tight End, Eli Brandt was First Team All-League at Defensive End, and Aden Dumcum was selected All-League Honorable Mention at O-Line.

Our High School Cheer Squad has been doing what they do! Being the best team in the League! On November 17th they competed at the KSHSAA Game Day Competition in Topeka. They went up against 20 of the top 2-1A teams and grabbed 4th Place!

Basketball Season has begun here in the Nation! Our Lady Jays started the season off right by winning the Linn County Tournament for the first time in 21 years! The Boys were able to grab 2nd place! Both Team are off to a great start to the season as at the break the girls are 4-2 and the boys are 5-1.

I hope you all have a great holiday and look forward to seeing you all back in the stands cheering on our kids in 2019!
